rev. Thomas A. Banister iii

Dr. T. Ashby Banister, III is a native of Rochester, New York, and the eldest son of Deacon Thomas A. Banister Jr. and Reverend Iris J. Banister, members of the St. Luke Baptist Church of Rochester, NY. He is an honors graduate of the Rochester City School District, and came to North Carolina to pursue a post secondary education at Livingstone College in Salisbury, NC. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education in 1998, he felt led by the Spirit to pursue ministerial training. He was accepted to Duke University Divinity School where he received the Duke Endowment Scholarship and graduated in 2003. After seminary, and while attending a Baptist Polity course at Virginia Union University's Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology in preparation for ordination, Pastor Banister determined to pursue the doctor of ministry degree there. He enrolled in the fall of 2007 and completed the program in May of 2010.

Pastor Banister has been earmarked by many as a "Man of God on the Move". Though highly acknowledged for his powerful preaching and profound teaching, it was his skilled musicianship and anointed singing that first brought him notoriety. Since the early 90's he has been perfecting his craft as a musician/producer, praise leader and workshop clinician, ministering to many congregations within the state of North Carolina and throughout the northeast. He has played for and performed with many Gospel greats including, Rev. Timothy Wright, Twinkie Clark, Rev. Shirley Caesar, and Dorothy Norwood. However, the highlight of Pastor Banister's music endeavors was the completion of his first solo album entitled "Waymaker" released in 2006. He is currently in the studio working on his second release, "Heartspeak", coming soon.

Prior to occupying the pulpit of Temple Memorial Baptist Church in March of 2006, Pastor Banister served as youth pastor and associate musician at the Union Baptist Church, and as an adjunct instructor in the Human Sciences Department at North Carolina Central University. In over a decade of pastoral leadership, over 300 disciples and several ministries, including a new disciples' training class, have been added, as well as the TMBC Bible institute which provides sound biblical instruction to every age group within the body. Technology has also become a priority as a means of serving this present age, with the addition of a state-of-the-art audio system, a video system, and an upgraded computer lab. With an insightful, vision-oriented approach and a charismatic leadership style, he is dedicated to spreading the good news of the Gospel wherever opportunity presents itself. Dr. Banister is a sought after speaker, revivalist, and lecturer, traveling as far as the United Kingdom since 2011 to share the good news. With the Spirit of God working throughout, the possibilities of what this pastor and a willing congregation can achieve under his leadership are endless. Pastor Banister is married to the former Ms. Tarsha L. Wiggins of Raleigh,NC. Together they are the proud parents of two beautiful daughters, DeMaris and DeMia.
